What is a Triathlon?

A triathlon is an event that includes swimming, biking and running. The rules of the triathlon is that when you go to get your bike you are not allowed to ride your bike in the transition area otherwise you will get a 10 second penalty. You can do a bit of training every day.  The 3 events in the triathlon are also events in the Olympics. It is unfair to cheat during the triathlon. You would need to do heaps of exercise for this event because it will take up all of your energy so you need to be fit. One of the triathlon’s in New Zealand is held in St Heliers.

Dragon Fruit

In Vietnam there were heaps of Dragon fruit in the trees. The Dragon fruit grows in the farm until  it is ready. You can by the Dragon fruit  in the markets or just pick them out of the tree. Dragon fruit were sometimes grown for the royal family and wealthy people. When plants are young new buds sprout along the thick fleshy stems. The Dragon fruit has to be picked out the right time because  it will go off and the bird will eat them. A girl went every day to pick out the Dragon Fruit but it wasn’t ripe. The last day she went to pick out the Dragon fruit it nice and ripe then she went eating at home.

Soulfriends

My soul friend’s name is Viane. He is 7 years old and he is in Mrs Poles class. His favourite colour is blue because he likes the sky and the sky is blue. His favourite subject at school is  Maths because he said it helps him count better. He  has 4 brothers and 1 sister and he likes learning new things.
A soul friend is a person you can go to if you don’t have any friends or need some to talk to.

Smart Footprint

On the Internet in Room 3 we are learning to keep things private on our blogs and to keep safe on the Internet.

When we create our Passwords we use letters and words and at least 8 characters. We do not use our name, our age, our phone number, our occupation or our pets name. When we get our password we do not share it with our friends.

When you log in to your email address there is a box that has a tick, if that box has a tick that means the computer is going to remember your password. I don’t leave a tick in the box, I leave it plan because I don’t want the computer remembering my password just incase someone else uses my computer.

Bracket Fungi

Flying fungi are like mushrooms but they are harder. They grow in rotten trees and roots and sometimes grow in the grass. They are here because when trees break they support it. The shell fungi is as hard as wood.

They are called bracket fungi because it supports like a shelf. When you hunt for Fungi you will find heaps around rotten trees.

Athletics Day

After morning tea I was so excited because we were having our school Athletics. This year we were having gazebos to sit under on the field. My house colour is green and our gazebo was green. I was so nervous about racing, I was in the 8 year old race. When the bell rang we had to get in our houses and follow our leaders to the field.

First Miss G said for the 9 year old’s to go to the high jump. After that I took the junior Geckos to the racing track. First up were the 5 year old girls, I was cheering for the 5 year old girls from the Geckos. The 5 year old boys were ready to race, there were a lot of fast boys in their race. Finally the 7 year old boys were racing, I was cheering for Beni and in his races he came 2nd and 3rd. Eventually it was my race and I was in the 50 m, 75 m and 100 meter races. I came 1st in all my races, I told my Mum and she was very proud of me.

Next Miss G told us to go under our gazebos and told us to watch the seniors finish their activities.  Finally it was lunch time and I really wanted to get a drink.  I was watching the high jump, there were a lot of good jumpers there. They were having the finals for the 9 year olds during Lunch. In the final there was Albert, Alecia and Richie. The final jumper was Albert who got it and he came 1st, Richie came 2nd and Alecia came 3rd. They were all from the Tuis. The Tuis were so proud of them and they were cheering loud.

During morning tea I was watching the 10 year old high jump final and Misiotei came 1st, Catherine came 2nd and Frank came 3rd. The juniors were watching the seniors doing there Athletics once they finished their races.

Finally it was lunchtime and we had to go back to our class and have lunch. I was so tired but we had running after lunch.  I had such a wonderful day and loved the 2013 Athletics.

Holes

This story is about a boy called Stanley his nickname is Caveman it acts naughty and his parents send him to a bad person school they have a river there. They have heaps of people there like Armpit, Mr Pendanski, Warden, Zero, Squid and Mr Sir.

Stanley was sent there because he was digging holes which were 2 meters wide and 2 meters big.

I like this story because it is very interesting and I learn things from this story that I don't want to go to Camp Green Lake.

Snake!

Yellow bellied snakes are sea snake’s, you normally  find them in the sea. Sometimes they get washed out to the sand. A man found a Yellow Bellied snake in some seaweed on a beach and he didn't know if it was alive or if it was dead. He didn't pick it up with his hands, he picked it up with a stick just in case.

Yellow Bellied snakes eat fish, eggs and small fish including eels. Yellow bellied snake’s are more poisonous than Cobras.

People don’t normally find snake’s in New Zealand, normally you would find snake’s in Australia and America.

One girl in NZ took a yellow bellied snake to her school and a Newspaper and cameraman came and a TV reporter came as well and took a picture of them holding the snake. They tried  to smile but they didn’t know if the snake was alive or not. Yellow bellied snake can swim under the water for up to 3 hours then they have to come back up again. It paralyses it’s prey with venom before swallowing it whole. Yellow bellied snakes use their tails as paddle when they are under the sea.
