Pinata Making!!!

In my class this term we are starting to make Pinatas. Pinata is an item that you can use at parties or special celebrations. Pinatas were invented in Mexico in the 14th Century. Pinatas can be shown and designed into whatever you want it to be. In my class we are going to make a Pinata and pop it. First we need to put a lot of layers of paper on the balloon so the Pinata will be hard and solid. I am doing a Pinata with a partner, my partner is Misiote, we have done about 5 or 6 layers, we are aiming to the point of 8 layers so it can be hard and solid. We want to make it hard because when someone hits the pinata the pinata doesn’t pop straight away. I am looking forward for our Pinata to get finished and decorated.

Construction

In Inquiry This term we made a item to protect the Chocolate Chip Cookie from the Cookie Monster. We used 10 straws, cellotape, 2 meter string and A3 paper. We had to go into pairs to build the item I was with Misiotei and we are making a bridge with a trap. I am looking forward to finishing my construction.

Water Story

Water is a healthy drink for us to keep hydrated. Also Water are in pools and in the ocean.

Water makes you better when you're sick. It controls your body temperature and also it makes most of your body like about 70 percent.  Water is also in our blood.

If we don’t drink water we will be dead and if there was no water on earth no one will be alive. Sometimes the Water we drink is from lakes, rivers, beaches and oceans. We need water every day in so many ways for us to survive in our lives.

When snow melts it turns into water. Water also helps us to breath. Water covers 71 percent of earths surface. Human’s normally drink water because it is very healthy for them. Adults drink water 0.2 percent of a day. Only half of South Africa have water and the rest have no water to drink because it is very dry.

Similes and Metaphors

Similes and Metaphors
A simile is where two things are directly compared because they share a      common feature. The word AS or LIKE is used to compare the two words. Eg. As cold AS a dog's nose
A metaphor also compares two things, but it does so more directly WITHOUT using as or like. Eg. The shop was a little gold-mine.
Task One
At the end of the sentence, write in brackets whether the sentence is an example of a metaphor or simile.
Eg. The clouds were fluffy like cotton wool. (SIMILE)
  1. As slippery as an eel. (SIMILE)
  2. Arnie was a man-mountain. (METAPHOR)
  3. He was a lion in battle. (METAPHOR)
  4. She is as pretty as a picture. (SIMILE)
  5. The striker was a goal machine. (METAPHOR)
  6. The torch lit up the room as if the sun had risen early. (SIMILE)
  7. The moon was a misty shadow. (METAPHOR)
  8. My friend has a face like a bag of spanners. (SIMILE)

Task Two
Now you are going to make up similes of your own by copying and finishing these sentences.
For example:
As good as gold
  1. As heavy as a rock.
  2. As cold as snow.
  3. She had skin like a rainbow
  4. As cool as a whale.
  5. As quick as a Lion.
  6. He was slow like a Hippo.
  7. Slippery like a snail.

My Identity

In Room 3 for Inquiry we are talking about Identity.

We did this through Camera and Google draw and we took a screen shot of it and posted it to our blog.

Identity is what makes you a person
my Identity makes me unique and special.

We did this because we are talking about Embracing others in Inquiry.
