My Maori Pepeha


This is my Maori pepeha we learnt at our trip to Ruapotoka Marae. Hope you enjoy it.

Ko Pirongia raua ko Karioi nga Maunga( Pirongia & Karioi are the mountains), Ko Aotea te Moana(Aotea is the Ocean), Ko Waikato te Awa(Waikato is the river), Ko Tainui te waka(Tainui is the canoe), Ko Waikato te Iwi(Waikato is the tribe), Ko Ngati Whawhakia raua ko Ngati Wairere nga Hapu(Ngati Whawhakia & Ngati Wairere are the Sub-Tribes), Ko Okapu ratou ko Waipapa, ko Maketu nga Marae(Okapu, Waipapa & Maketu are the Marae's) Ko Patrick toku ingoa(Patrick is my name).   2. Before saying your Pepeha you can also do a chant - Ka tangi te titi(The muttonbird calls), Ka tangi te kaka(the parrot calls), Ka tangi hoki ahau(I too call), Tihei Mauri Ora(Behold the Breath of Life)
