Activity 3- Day 7 Weekly Activities...(Holiday Blogging)

Learn: Bonus- This year two new sports are being added to the Paralympic Games. They are canoeing and triathlon. In the triathlon the athletes must swim 750 metres, cycle for 20 kilometres, and then run for 5 kilometres. Paralympic athletes may also compete in other sports including archery, boccia, football, judo, powerlifting, rowing, sailing, swimming, sitting volleyball, track cycling, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair tennis. To learn more about all of the Paralympic sports, please visit the 2016 Paralympic Games website.

Imagine that you are on the Paralympic Committee and you have been asked to create one new sport to add to the competition for this year. Use your awesome imagination to design a brand new Paralympic sport. Please remember that some of the athletes will not be able to walk or run and others may be blind or deaf. On your blog, please write:

  1. The name of your sport,
  2. A brief description of how you play the sport, and
  3. Three rules for the sport

Badminton:
Brief Description:

Badminton is a very similar sport to tennis and squash. There can be either 1 person by themselves or 2 people in a doubles team playing against the same number of people. The aim of Badminton is to hit the shuttlecock (the object you hit) over the net and try and make the shuttlecock land on the ground of your opponents side. Therefor you will be given points if you do exactly that.

Rules:

  1. Hi Pat,

Firstly, huge congratulations on completing the Winter Learning Journey programme in less than a week. That is an incredible accomplishment. Wow! Well done.

I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts and commenting as much as I could as I went along. You have created a number of very high quality blogs. You should be really proud :)

I am already looking forward to coming to St Pius early in Term III to give you a certificate and, perhaps, even a prize! In order to secure your position in the 'Top 3' you will want to be sure that you post thoughtful and positive comments on other student's blogs. Each good comment is worth 3 points.

Once again, congratulations on an outstanding job!

    Best, Rachel
